Visit the monumental Nativity Scene of Vitoria-Gasteiz!

Are you looking for an original Christmas plan near Bilbao? The Parque de La Florida in Vitoria-Gasteiz is home to one of the most spectacular monumental nativity scenes in the world.
Since 1962, the Basque capital has been setting up this beautiful ensemble, which currently has more than 80 characters and over 100 elements, including animals, buildings and decorative objects. All of them on a natural scale.
The visit is divided into two parts, the Grotto, which houses the nativity scene and has a limited opening and closing time, and the rest of the route, where you can see other secondary figures and is open to the public.
Figures
In the beginning, all the figures were carved in plaster. However, from 1985 they began to be replaced by others made of polyester and fibreglass, materials that are lighter to transport and suitable for the city’s climate.
New features
Year after year, the Nativity Scene is improved with new elements. Thus, in this edition, the incorporation of a stall selling fabrics, adaptations in the lighting to create a warmer atmosphere and the change of location of the announcing angel stand stand out.
