With onion or without onion? These are the five best potato omelettes in Bizkaia

Potato omelette is one of the simplest dishes to make and at the same time most complex, as well as one of the most exquisite and appreciated by adults and children. Do you fancy a family plan tasting the best recipes from Bilbao and surrounding areas?
The Bizkaia Hospitality Association has announced the winning establishments of Bizkaiko Tortilla Kopa, a competition that seeks the best potato tortillas in the territory.
After nine weeks of intense competition between 64 bars and restaurants in Bizkaia, the first prize went to Bar Teike (Balmaseda), which won the Official Kopa trophy, an award given by a professional jury made up of 24 people related to the world of hospitality, tourism and gastronomy.
The tortilla at this place has sour potato, hidden onion, eight eggs and three yolks, and arbequina oil. The jury has valued it for its juiciness, point of salt and presentation, and has described it as “perfection”.
Likewise, the second recognition, called Kopa Goiko and assigned by popular vote, went to Kaixo Gastrobar, a tavern in Getxo with almost a decade of experience, and its popular omelette without onion, with crunchy and very melty potatoes.
Finally, the organization has also highlighted the tortillas from the Markina and Sorginzulo restaurants, both in Bilbao, and El Atrio, in Getxo, for their great quality and presentation, with the two winning proposals being very even in votes.
